Image Sensing Technologies for Understanding Human Status and Activity
In this presentation, we propose a novel image sensing system that can recognize human activity under actual living environment. By analyzing sensing data of the system, adaptive information space can be realized. We also mention about some expected applications of our human sensing technologies.
Structural Control of Liquids and Melts
The solid carbon has two structures known as graphite (pencil lead) and diamond. I introduce the concept that there are several structures even in liquid state of any materials. I present our experimental results of polymers from this viewpoint. Also I introduce our scientific toy using graphite.
Functional surface creation by precision machining and nano processing
To manufacture high-value added products, it is essential to maximize the surface functions of materials. In this talk, the speaker will introduce nanometer level machining and material property controlling technologies for surface function generation. Topics include ductile machining of hard brittle materials, micro imprinting on viscoelastic materials, and laser recovery of defects in crystalline materials.
Novel Bioactive Substances from Marine Organisms
We seek to isolate bioactive substances from marine organism. We have carried out chemical synthesis and bioorganic studies on bioactive substances to elucidate their mode of action. Unique bioactive substances of marine origin are highly significant for drug candidate and probe for life science.
